For some reason, some new episodes won't show up on the list of episodes for an anime and they're not watchable til hours later even though the updated section shows there's new episodes. It's extremely inconsistent. It's been like this for many months. There's no excuse for this bug/issue to persist for so long when people are subbing to a service. Crunchyroll, please fix it.

It's been like this for at least a year.

One way to fix it though, make sure to add the show to your que, go into the web browser and start the episode, let it run for abut 30 seconds, then check your que, it should appear in your que now, then you can go to the PS4 app and watch it.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work for a brand new show with the first episode

Several... HOURS!?!? Oh noes.
Maybe, schedule your watching times a couple hours later and you won't notice?

@KingKaio
Why should I work around CR's incompetence when I'm the costumer? Sorry, I'm not a Bethesda fan. I won't make excuses for them or do their job. They should fix it because it's their service.

I face the same issue and not only on my PS4 but also on my android phone app. I open app, they show the episode was released 1 to 4 hours ago but when I try to watch it, it does not start (phone). If I click on the image to start the episode the app on android crash. If I go to my PS4 which I use as my media center on my living room, it shows it has "4" episodes on the updated section, as example (as the 4th one is the fresh new one), but when I click to see the list of episodes and play the 4th one, it is non existent. As commented here, it take many hours to appear on phone and PS4 app. If I go to my computer and open the website, it works fine, but it is really unacceptable that company stating having support to Android and PS4 apps when they do not work properly.

@Crunchyrol team, please fix these issues on phone and PS4 apps. It has been some time already and I don't see any change coming for this. Using workarounds provided above (like wait until the end of the day to watch/become available in PS4, or watch in different places, as example in my laptop browser, is not an option. I'm a member since long time ago and always watched on my PS4 or phone and did not have this type of issues before. I don't know why this issue was introduced recently and no one is taking any action to fix it.

Appreciate the quick support.

CR has had a CYA for this in the FAQ for over three years, and this was the state of the service even on their old platform occasionally ever since I started here more than 8 years ago. It would seem that they (can't/won't) be taking any further action to change it.

Why am I unable to play a video that was just recently released?

There may be a 2-7 hour delay from when the videos are released on our site and released to our various apps due to production delays. Though generally, the videos are released across all platforms at the same time, there may be a short delay in bringing episodes to all available platforms.

Here's basically how it was explained to me long ago...

The videos for all the various device types have to be processed to have the subs hard-encoded, in every language they have available licenses for, in 4 or 5 different resolutions for adaptive streaming, and that has to be done and distributed for each different device platform which requires a different playable file format (gaming console, iPhone/tablet, Android, Roku, Windows App). Multiply out all those combinations and that is a lot of processing which needs to be done to get all the files ready. If the raw files barely arrive in time from their suppliers, something they have no control over, then a delay is going to happen to get them all done and distributed, and the devices are going to lag.

I've noticed this a has gotten a lot worse lately, stuff that was released days ago is not showing. I can understand a few hours given the distribution challenge, but over a day is not quite living up to the standard I would expect from a premium subscription service.

Or maybe....just maybe they can have the program have the video on the list when it says it does. Not having to wait 3-4 hours later for it to FINALLY appear.

Why, the anime has been released, CR has it posted, so it should be watchable. I or we should not have to wait for CR to get around to it.
