Some PS4 Issues

Having the same issue on PS4. Episodes skip and go low-res from time to time and when I try to rewind the progress bar has moved further ahead or to the end of the episode, so I have to rewind quite a lot.

One thing I've always found to be inferior on the PS4 app compared to the online site or even the X-Box app is that when looking at the episode menu it doesn't show the progress bar at the episode to indicate whether I've seen it or not. Really wish that would be implemented on the PS4 app as well, as I sometimes forget which series I've watched already and the history isn't as comprehensive as the online site.

Yes I just witnessed the low res drop for me too, didn't notice before due to restarting the ep over and over since it skipped so much I'm watching on my ps3 now and it seems to be working fine, since the ps3 CR app is still on update 1.29

Yes that's a good idea, I hope they implement that on the ps4, I forget what series I watched sometimes too, unless i go on the site via laptop and organize all watched anime to the end of the que, would be nice if i could organize and move anime around

I'm having the same problems since the 1.31 update as well. Constant down converts and pausing. Did not have any problems before the update.

Exact same issue here too. And it's making Crunchy almost unwatchable for me due to how little I'm able to just sit down and watch a full episode without interruptions, and thus, pausing.

In fact, this seems to happen even after things like skipping forward through an OP.

Yup, same here. Actually wanted to make a thread about this yesterday, but that, too, was broken.

This skipping/buffering problem was a thing a couple of years back, but got fixed eventually after many months. I can't believe it's back again. Episodes dropping to low-def, buffering and skipping issues... How the hell do you manage to reintroduce old bugs that were fixed years ago? Got inspired by Fallout 76?

In between this nonsense and the fact the android manga app is *still* broken after months, plus the news today about AT&T stuffing CR into a "kids" unit, I think it's time for me to start looking for alternatives for my CR account as it is clear they just don't give a damn.

I'm having a quality degradation-into-skipping issue; I'm not sure i this is the same issue others are having. This looks to be a wide-range problem that should be something CR's public relations staff should be addressing. They aren't doing so. This has been going for far too long to be considered a quickly fixed issue.

Edit: I might have found a bit of a work around. While the episode is playing, do not pause. I've tested it on two episodes so far, and I can get through to within two minutes of the end credits before the video quality drops to less than 1080p, or I experience a skip.

It was always bad but after the latest update the PS4 app is now unusable. Makes me really sad, that's where I did most of my watching.

I'm having the exact same problem as is most, if not all, ps4 users according to reddit. I have a very fast connection speed that's working fine. It's the definitely the latest update 1.31 causing it. According to reddit using the free VRV app rectifies the issue. CR is obviously aware and hopefully fixing it.

It's also started being weird if the video you have started isn't finished buffering (playing the actual video instead of sitting on a frozen frame) and then skipping to the next episode (via L1) the player will crash.

This started a few days ago.

'An exception has occurred with the application.
Please restart the application to continue.

TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'my.player.paused')
line: 59, source:js/app/Crunchyroll/view/component/video_page/VideoPlayer.js. '

It gets a tad annoying when using the history to find last episode watched, and trying to skip to the next episode quickly. You have to restart the CR app and try again... And it so ingrained into my habits that I forget to wait for the video to buffer.

Also sometimes when skipping thru frames on an episode, it'll look like codecs failed to load for half a second (grainy green lines and a jumbled frame)

And then the weirdest one, when the 'time bar' goes way passed where it's supposed to be, covering up the time stamp sometimes and growing off the screen completely. You know, that orange bar that shows you the timestamp of the episode your in... This bug so far has been random and I haven't been able to reproduce it consistently. It might be happening when the player randomly chops a frame back but the timestamp fails to track that it skipped backwards? Unsure.

Edit: I caught it before it covered the time stamp, time stamp read '25:14 / 24:00' meaning being on minute 25 on a 24 minute episode...

Mainly rewatching One Piece right now so it could have to do with just that series?

Platform: PS4

The low res drop is usually fixed by skipping back a frame, and then forward to the frame it was on... for me anyway.

There was an option when I watched on PC to force buffer at whatever resolution you wanted or let it automatically choose for you based on your internet connection. I'm assuming the latter is what the PS4 uses. Would be nice for the first option to be available on consoles.

I've had this twice now since the 1.31 update. It doesn't happen everytime, not sure what the steps are yet to make it happen.

It seems every episode of one piece is saying that its 24:00 long right now(which they aren't). I think this is causing the frame skipping/rewinding issues. Other series are showing 23:39 for all episodes... Something's definitely wrong with the timestamp encoding...

Same issues for me. Quality drop and progress bar not on the correct spot. It started with the update. It's really annoying. I've also had some random skips ahead on some episodes.

Same for me too, since last update...constant quality drops, seeing frames and audio repeat and skip when quality shifts up and down. Very annoying. Never had an issue with previous version 1.31 needs to be fixed ASAP.

I have been having quite a lot of issues with the PS4 app as well.
Quality drops, sometimes the audio gets really high pitched, rewinding constantly makes it skip to the end of the show,no progress bar in queue screen (But I think it never had one in the first place) and a really weird bug where the bar actually goes further than the time markers.
For the last one, I actually have a screenshot which I found really funny at the time.

There is also the problem (while it may not be a bug it's still pretty annoying) where the bar up top does not vanish after a period of time when you pause the show like it does with the Xbox 360 app (which I find much much better despite it's age: Seasonal anime sorting, much more cisually appealing queue list so on so forth).
