I've been having this problem too. I only watch anime on my computer now just because I can't deal with it. It would be nice to watch shows from my couch though.

Oh it's definitely an issue on Crunchyrolls end, and when I reached out, I was told that it was definitely an issue on my internet providers end, all the while, youtube, netflix and streaming at any time of the day all at highest qualities work without a hitch.

It's the fact that Crunchyroll isn't acknowledging the issue that bothers me the most

I can't believe how long this has been an issue for. Months and months. It all started during one of Sony's more feature rich updates, and it has been an issue ever since. Netflix works great, YouTube, games, just Chrunchyroll. How the fuck have they continued to neglect this without even a word.

I just relegated myself to using my PC, but more recently I've been waiting for some hardware to finish a set of upgrades, and wouldn't you know it: the app on the PS4 is still unwatchable. Reinstall the app, restart the PS4, doesn't matter, it's still absolute garbage.

Another month and I'm not paying for this shit anymore. Plenty of alternatives. The length of time this has been going on for, ridiculous.

I've had this issue for probably the last year or so. It would usually happen twice an episode, but its been happening more recently. I decided to search for a reason and found this forum post.

Also it can't be my internet connection because I've brought my PS4 over to a friend's house who lives across the water and has another internet service provider and it still happened. I've reset my PS4 completely and it still happens. Unless the entire state of Washington has this internet connection problem they talk about then they are full of sh**.

Here we are in 2019, and still having this issue it seems. I never noticed this issue when I used my PS3 (ps3 died/stop functioning and had to upgrade to a ps4) I’m also having a issue with the video quality constantly jumping from HD or high, to fuzzy and low digitized almost, every few seconds or min. I have no issues with any other video service doing any of these issues, as I was using them prior to even today’s highly noticeable issues only moments before switching over to Crunchyroll to watch anime. Wish there was a solution.

Pretty sure they broke the app with the 1.31 update last Monday...I didn't have any problems at all before the update got pushed, but now I have all these quality issues too, and the progress bar is super busted, which makes it annoying to rewind 'cause one press can push me forward 5 minutes or more into the ep. Even better, I put in a ticket with support on Wednesday and they just haven't bothered responding at all.

Update this morning has not resolved issue

To add a couple of additional problems I have been experiencing

Two instances of both the adverts and the program i'm watching playing at once. There is maybe a 0.5 second delay between them; resulting in an echo affect. Restarting the app/playstation sometimes resolves this but I just restarted it 3x in a row to start playing the episode I'm watching an dit took until the 3rd for me to be able to watch.

This happens after watching an advert. When looking at the time bar, it will be swapping backwards and fowards through the seconds that it is playing at the same time. Video is not affected just the sound

On occasion, two different adverts are playing at the same time - so I have the sound from one but the video from another; OR the sound from both.
This sometimes continues into the episode I'm watching where I have the sound from an advert playing at the same time as the sound and video of the episdoe.

Another error is that an advert is playing when one is not due, and when the video resumes playing it is at the point after when the advert should have been playing - so 5-10 minutes of episode skipped. About 30% of the time when this happens, when I skip back to where I was in the episode, I am forced to watch another bout of adverts. This is particularly annoying when it takes me to the advert at the END of an episode; this can result in it moving onto the next episode and hten I have to go back and watch the adverts both for entering the episode, and for skipping ahead to where I am up to in it.

I hope this gets fixed soon.

Got the same issues, plus sometimes when the video starts playing after the buggy ads, I got the audio repeated two times so, if I pausa the episode or closing it, the audio keeps playing

I have the occasional backskip as you mentioned; plus the quality has been crappy the last two weeks or so.

Crunchyroll is experiencing major stability issues across platforms. The hardware is busted and not being repaired or replaced. Maintenance is non existent. Your choices are one not use the service ie pay for it as is or seek out other methods of viewing anime due to a non functional service that’s currently offered.
