Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV's passionate communities.

About You:

Our Ellation Technology Platform helps us scale to serve millions of users across the globe, and we are looking to expand our team of world-class engineers, so we can continue to innovate and offer rock-solid reliability to our content partners. You are a full-stack engineer and a professional with strong technical design principles, not a hacker. You understand the requirements and think before you code, adhere to principles of abstraction and best practices in API design, and are as cognizant of the limitations in what you build as you are of your capabilities. You are familiar with many technologies and can confidently pick the right tool for the job at hand.

The data engineering team at Ellation is looking for a Data Architect to build the next generation of data infrastructure and business intelligence services.

A day in the life of the Engineering Team:

  • Provide technical design leadership with the responsibility to ensure the efficient use of resources, the selection of appropriate technology, and use of appropriate design methodologies
  • Work closely with business/product stakeholders in understanding requirements and translating them to engineering requirements.
  • Support and enhance data architecture, data instrumentation, define database schema, create pipe­lining, generate reports/insights, a guide algorithm design.
  • Define and evangelize data warehouse fundamentals and best practices.
  • Work across the organization in optimizing data capture (parameters, metadata, etc.).
  • Work with DevOps in bringing up new data systems and supporting existing data services.
  • Evaluate SaaS solutions (BI, pipe­lining, etc.) and make build/buy recommendations.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of software development experience with several years in hands on data architecture, data modeling and strategy
  • 5+ years of experience with Data warehouse design and implementation.
  • 5+ years of database schema design, and python and SQL.
  • 3+ years of NoSQL, MapReduce, and BigData experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with Amazon or similar cloud services.
  • Experience with BI and data visualization and ETL tools like Airflow and Spark.
  • Knowledge of data security practices.
  • Ability to turn business requirements into DB schema design.
  • Ability to work independently and mentor engineers.
  • Ability to work directly with external stakeholders to gather requirements and present data driven solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum development processes.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects against deadlines.
  • Ability to advise on data and application integration best practices and optimize performance of ETL programs and solutions
  • Master's Degree in computer science or equivalent experience
