Senior Engineering Manager, CMS

Engineering Team | San Francisco

About Us:

Ellation, Inc. is a transformative entertainment company and home of industry-leading platforms Crunchyroll and VRV. Crunchyroll is the world’s largest destination for anime and manga, boasting a global community of more than 25 million registered users and over 1 million subscribers. VRV is a fast-growing entrant in the SVOD space and is an audience-focused aggregation platform featuring premium SVOD channels including Crunchyroll, Funimation, Rooster Teeth, and Shudder.

About you:

Our Ellation Technology Platform helps us scale to serve millions of users across the globe, and we are looking to expand our team of world-class engineers, so we can continue to innovate and offer rock-solid reliability to our content partners. You are a full-stack engineer and a professional with strong technical design principles, not a hacker. You understand the requirements and think before you code, adhere to principles of abstraction and best practices in API design, and are as cognizant of the limitations in what  you build as you are of your capabilities. You are familiar with many technologies and can confidently pick the right tool for the job at hand.

A day in the life of the Engineering Team:

As the Senior Engineering Manager for CMS team, you will have ownership of critical components of our service. You will directly manage a team of engineers focused on the mission of building best in class technical solutions for our rapidly growing video subscription platform.  The services you would own in leading the CMS team are at the heart of our video streaming operation including a react / redux web portal, ingest engine, client facing API surface and internal API consumers of the catalog data set.

You will lead a team of engineers in supporting these critical services including designing and shaping future API direction in collaboration with stakeholders. You will work closely with the CMS product owner, code quality assurance, devops and other teams. Ellation has an aggressive roadmap for this service and we need a strong owner to help us deliver on these goals.

Ellation What’s with the name, Ellation? We’re all a cast of characters that get passion and strive to celebrate fandom in all its forms. So we’re building a collection of destinations (a constellation, if you will) that connect people with their passions. Each day, we work to achieve complete fan elation (our vision), starting with popular subscription-video-on-demand brands, Crunchyroll and VRV. Our team spans across San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Chisinau to develop the product, design, engineering, marketing, and content that brings our communities of fans together.

Crunchyroll is the world’s largest destination for anime and manga. We’re an international business focused on creating both online and offline experiences for anime fans, through content (licensed, co-produced, and originals), merchandise, events, gaming, news, and more.

VRV is a collection of fandom brands on a unified platform and includes Crunchyroll, sister-brand Rooster Teeth, Viacom’s NickSplat, and WB Digital’s DramaFever. Our community connects through immersive content experiences in a digitally-driven environment via bundled subscription, a la carte subscription, or ad-supported options.
