Partnerships Team | San Francisco / Los Angeles

We’re looking for a Manager of VRV Content Partnerships to join our team. Our offices in San Francisco, Tokyo, and Chișinău develop the product, design, engineering, marketing and content for Crunchyroll and VRV -- we are media and technology experts, and we lead with our digital-first DNA to create experiences for our passionate communities.

The Manager of VRV Content Partnerships will be fully responsible for content acquisition and executing new partnerships with content partners from traditional studios, cable networks, and digital media brands in addition to independent and international studios. This is a hands-on role that will require an individual to pair sound judgment, and strong analytical skills with the ability to cultivate valuable relationships, externally and internally.

The right individual will be a professional who is humble, fearless, and carries a quiet self-confidence. They are a student first, continually perfecting the habit of learning. While anchored by strong personal skills, success in this role will be dependent upon attention to detail, thoughtful quantitative analysis, market research, a strong subjective filter, ability to prioritize, influence and the willingness to dive into each aspect of the partnership from legal and finance, to programming and marketing.  A deep interest in the intersection of media and technology, in addition to the current evolution of the media landscape, is required.

The right candidate will roll-up their sleeves, commit to a practice of daily learning, and consistently execute at a high level to work with us as we build something truly special and innovative for consumers, partners, and specifically, our fans.


  • Deal Making.
  • Manage the entire content partnership process: from partner identification to negotiating licensing deals, and utilizing quantitative analysis skills to build the justification for the opportunity.
  • Grow and manage a pipeline of valuable content partnerships through competitive analysis to track content that will reinforce our strategic plan, and develop deep understanding of industry trends, and continue to seek new opportunity.
  • Evaluate content performance post-launch, as it relates to subscription, new user and/or brand growth and deliver insights internally to help identify additional business opportunities.
  • Work across all divisions of the external partner, from scheduling initial meetings, crafting external partner presentations, internal strategy roadmaps, and championing partner & company needs to maximize initial opportunities that lead to long term partner success.
  • Aligning with and working closely with internal teams will be critical, specifically, negotiating the deal with legal, building the business case with finance, balancing product support and resources, strategically engaging with marketing and PR teams to ensure detailed execution and partner support.


  • Must be an incredible team player.
  • 4 Year College Degree in business, marketing, finance or related field, and 4-6 years of expertise in the media industry  (having worked in a studio, production company, agency, distributor, network), with proven deal making capability.
  • Strong communication skills, incredible attention to detail and a track-record of self-motivation to go far and beyond to drive partner success.
  • Must be able to take initiative with minimal direction, seek out information from various sources (internal and external) and demonstrate exceptional follow through and execution and prioritize a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort with managing all aspects of the deal close and from negotiation to working closely with legal to paper and execute the partnership.
  • Passion for the digital media industry, specifically with direct to consumer focused businesses.
  • Mastery of verbal, written and visual communication skills including the ability to cultivate internal and external relationships.
