About the Team:

Planning world domination? What a coincidence, we are too! With VRV recently reaching 1.5M registered users in less than one year, and Crunchyroll topping the 1M subscriber milestone; the team at Ellation is just getting started.

Crunchyroll Games is a brand new division within Crunchyroll that specializes in publishing mobile anime games in the world ex-Asia markets. As a Localization Manager, you will spearhead the coordination of game text localizations for multiple titles to our audiences. You will manage various vendors and assign them to specific games and projects. You will work closely with a variety of support and operational teams to take an original or adapted anime game from Japan and introduce it to the rest of the world.

This positions collaborates closely with the producer, the publishing manager, and external translation studios to ensure a smooth development and launch of Crunchyroll Games. You will act as the point of contact for all game localization initiatives.

Location: San Francisco

Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV's passionate communities.

About you:

  • Experience as a game translator or localization expert for 3+ years
  • Keen understanding of game localization constructs and language formatting
  • Keen understanding of narrative content versus instructive content
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a strong education
  • Strong background in games and/or media
  • Bilingual proficiency (Japanese) a huge plus
  • Strong written and oral communication

A Day in the life of the CR Games Team:

  • Interface with multiple translation studios and speciality game localization vendors
  • Manage project timelines and resource coordination issues between vendors and games
  • Manage localization budgets and vendor quote submissions and proposals
  • Act as end-to-end coordinator for all vendor relations for our games
  • Work with Crunchyroll internal teams and publishing manager to set completion time
  • Work with our external partners on optimizing localization flow for initial game launch and future content updates, including new materials
  • Participate in game launch updates and strategy sessions with rest of CR Games team
