With VRV recently reaching 1.5M registered users in less than one year, and Crunchyroll topping the 1M subscriber milestone; the team at Ellation is just getting started. We are looking for a talented, high-achieving individual to join Crunchyroll as our International Content Distribution and Acquisitions Lead. Today, Crunchyroll is globally recognized as the premiere destination for streaming anime, and has cultivated a brand of everything anime - video, events, community, eCommerce. Central to the company's growth is the overall distribution of our acquired first window content and the ever-growing AVOD/SVOD library of top-notch anime titles.

About the Team:

Crunchyroll's content acquisition mantra is focused on providing our users with a complete offering of the best new simulcast titles, as well as key catalog content in all the regions Crunchyroll is available. That's where you come in. In this role, you will work with various internal stakeholders and international partners to distribute our growing catalog of content to international distribution partners and acquire key catalog content across the various regions & languages.

About You:

You will help identify key content gaps, content opportunities, and acquisition initiatives and lead the effort to grow Crunchyroll's content offering across the globe. You will interface with regional staff, Japanese content partners, and senior leadership on a regular basis. You will be responsible for securing the best and most impactful content for Crunchyroll internationally.

This position requires the flexibility to travel globally, and will report to the Head of Business Operations at Crunchyroll.

About you:

  • 5+ years of work experience in the tech / media space, working in a fast-paced environment
  • 5+ years of work experience in content distribution and/or acquisition & procurement
  • Anime industry relevance preferred
  • Experience working in a distributed team environment, especially with global stakeholders
  • Experience working with external partners, publishers, and distributors
  • Strong understanding of digital media landscape and anime/comic/games industry
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of anime industry a strong plus
  • Willingness to travel globally for face-to-face meetings

What to expect on a daily basis:

  • License out ancillary content rights to distribution partners that compliments Crunchyroll’s streaming service in-region to increase exposure & generate revenue
  • Proactively manage content distribution partner relationships & set expectations regarding distribution opportunities
  • Identify key catalog content gaps in each language offering
  • Seek out strong content segments that fill strategic and service gaps
  • Negotiate and procure the right segments of catalog content
  • Develop and grow strong relationships with partners and regional teams
  • Evaluate deal memos and draft content agreements with external parties
  • Analyze content performance and overall acquisition metrics
  • Work with international team and rights team to define acquisition roadmap
